Important Summary Statement re "AI" in Mapping

Dear All:

Please read Jonathan Crowe’s statement, published yesterday on his Map Room blog, about so-called artificial intelligence and maps. It’s a wonderful, succinct statement of the many fundamental problems of large language models and generative AI. It is much better than anything I could write.
